FREE JUSTIN WOLFE – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN VIRGINIA, USA
Falsely convicted of Murder for hire, Justin is fighting for his life. He had no Criminal Record or History of Violence. The case against Justin was built solely on witness testimony – no physical evidence connects him to the murder. He has been victimized by a system in where procedure overrules innocence. In Justin’s case the jury rendered a verdict based on incomplete, inaccurate and unreliable evidence. Key prosecution witnesses, whose testimony convicted Justin, made deals for lighter sentences - even the shooter who took a deal to avoid the death sentence was only given 38 years. Virginia has rejected post-conviction affidavits swearing to Justin's innocence on the grounds the statements were made after the deadline for appeal. If executed, Justin would be the first person ever in the state of Virginia to be put to death for a murder he neither committed nor was present at.
FREE GREGORY WRIGHT – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN TEXAS, USA
Greg Wright was convicted in 1997 of killing Donna Vick. He was implicated by a co-accused in a Statement unconstitutionally introduced to his trial, unchallenged by cross-examination; and by circumstantial evidence that has subsequently been disproved by DNA tests. This Statement, presented as the truth at Greg's trial, was then branded as unreliable and self-serving at the trial of the co-accused. The co-accused had already admitted guilt in a 911 call (subsequently "lost" by the prosecution and therefore inadmissible as evidence at Greg's trial). DNA tests since, conducted on the murder weapon and clothing worn by the guilty party, have shown that there is no link to Greg. An execution date has been set for Sept. 9th 2008, in spite of the fact that DNA tests, which could further strengthen Greg's case, are incomplete.
FREE TROY DAVIS – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN GEORGIA, USA
Troy Davis was sentenced to death for the murder of Police Officer Mark Allen McPhail in Georgia, U.S.A; a murder he maintains he did not commit. Troy has been on death row in Georgia for 17 years. There was no physical evidence against him and the weapon used in the crime was never found. The case against him consisted entirely of witness testimony which contained inconsistencies even at the time of the trial. Since then, all but two of the state's non-police witnesses from the trial have recanted or contradicted their testimony. Seven out of the nine witnesses have recanted and stated in sworn affidavits that they were pressured or coerced by police into testifying or signing statements against Troy Davis.
FREE JIMMY DENNIS – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN PENNSYLVANIA, USA
Jimmy Dennis was convicted and sentenced to death for the tragic murder of seventeen-year-old Chedell Williams in northeast Philadelphia in 1991. Jimmy was wrongly convicted because of a general misunderstanding of eyewitness testimony (especially in regards to stranger identification), the limited number of eyewitnesses his defence lawyer called to testify at his trial, intimidation of a key witness who provided circumstantial evidence, and unintentional false testimony given by an acquaintance of Jimmy which impeached his alibi.
FREE RODNEY REED – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN TEXAS, USA
Rodney Reed has been on Texas’ death row since 1998. He was convicted for the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites in the small town of Bastrop. Stacey’s brutal murder struck at the very heart of the community, not only for its brutality, but for the sinister chain of events it would set into motion. Rodney’s case is a troubling mixture of prosecutorial misconduct, police corruption, poor defence, and institutional racism. Evidence of Rodney’s innocence is overwhelming and the need for a new trial is indisputable.
FREE DARLIE ROUTIER – INNOCENT ON DEATH ROW IN TEXAS, USA
In the early morning hours of June 6th 1996, Darlie Routier and her two sons, Damon and Devon were brutally attacked as they slept in their Rowlett Texas home. As of result of this attack, Damon and Devon died. Darlie was stabbed repeatedly, her throat slashed. Within hours of this horrid attack, the Rowlett Police Department focused on Darlie as being the attacker. NO other persons were sought in the double murder of Damon and Devon Routier. The State of Texas believed Darlie Routier killed her sons, stabbed herself repeatedly and slashed her own throat. Darlie was convicted in Kerrville Texas and sentenced to death row. Her trial was media based, thus; she was unfairly convicted of murder. The State of Texas and the Rowlett Police Department had not investigated the crime properly. Evidence was contaminated at the crime scene by the Rowlett Police Department.
